Competition (Contest) Band Uniform Washing Instructions
- Accessories are not to be washed unless otherwise specified
- Machine wash on gentle/knit cycle in cold water (NEVER wash in warm or hot water). Do NOT use fabric softener, and use only non-chlorine detergent (scent-free preferred).
- Dry garments on a cool/knit setting ONLY. Do NOT use a hot dryer setting. You can machine dry the uniforms for about 5 minutes and then hang them up to air dry
- To keep the uniforms smelling fresh, add a few tablespoons of baking soda to the wash. If the issue persists after a couple of tries, contact Uniform Coordinator for further instructions.
- Fold the uniforms in half (sleeve-to-sleeve or leg-to-leg), then roll up neatly and place in the drawstring bag provided. Return to band hall the next school day.
Formal Dress (Classic B) Uniform Washing Instructions
- Remove red “B” patch insert from jacket and place in back pocket of uniform garment bag. Do NOT wash red patch.
- You may use “Spray and Wash” or other non-chlorine stain removers before washing. Saxophone necklines: you can rub some bar soap into neckline to remove the marks from their neck straps prior to washing. Tubas: the left shoulder area have potential pretreatment needs.
- Turn jacket inside out and zip up.
- Turn bib pants inside out. Make sure the pant legs are snapped.
- Velcro the gauntlets together.
- Machine wash on gentle/knit cycle in cold water (NEVER wash in warm or hot water). Do NOT use fabric softener, and use only non-chlorine detergent (scent-free preferred).
- Dry garments on a cool/knit setting ONLY. Do NOT use a hot dryer setting. You can machine dry the uniforms for about 5 minutes and then hang them up to air dry as they get loud in the dryer.
