Event Description
The evening starts with all returning students and incoming 9th Graders performing the show music they’ve learned during the preceding week of spring band camp. New Freshmen band and guard families – this is your first chance to see your student as a part of our award-winning ensemble! You’ll also learn the title and theme of the show the OPE will take to competition in the fall 2019 season.
Then we’ll go into the gym to witness the last public performance of our 7-time state champion Bowie Winterguard before they travel to Beijing to make history as the first American high school guard to take part in WGI China! This will also be a chance to salute our Senior guard members and thank folks who have supported the China trip.
After the performance, our band and guard family enjoys dinner in the cafeteria, followed by a silent and live auction. All proceeds support our band and guard programs.
Current 7th grade band families from Gorzycki, Small, Bailey, and Covington are also welcome! Get a head start on meeting our directors who will work with your student while still in middle school next year, and then later here at Bowie. As our biggest fan, Ryan Reynolds, said this year: you are the future of the history of this band!
