James Bowie High School Band
The Bowie Band is a comprehensive fine arts program consisting of nationally- recognized concert bands, jazz bands, steel bands, percussion ensembles, chamber ensembles, the Outdoor Performing Ensemble, and an internationally-recognized color guard.

The Outdoor Performing Ensemble is a consistent Regional, Super Regional, and Grand National finalist. The band is a two- time recipient of the Sudler Shield and has performed in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, the London New Year’s Day parade, and the Fiesta Bowl parade.

Ensembles from the Bowie Band have also performed at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition at the University of Notre Dame, the Western International Band Clinic in Seattle, and the Midwest Clinic International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference in Chicago. The Bowie Band program is a proud representative of the city of Austin, Texas and the Austin Independent School District.

Bowie High School, located on 60 acres in Southwest Austin, is the largest comprehensive high school in the district, with more than 200 faculty and staff members in 160 classrooms and labs. The school’s size and range of offerings gives students numerous options for involvement in academic and extracurricular activities. Bowie offers college preparatory classes, Advanced Placement coursework, foreign languages, fine arts, Air Force JROTC, athletics, and career and technical education programs including culinary arts, health science, agricultural science, and computer technology.
